About Workshop

How we react to our complex feelings can be life-changing. In this creative class, we delve into exploring our feelings, how they occurred and how we responded. You will create a creature with recycled items to help you express these feelings. Creative Creatures let you process your emotions playfully. Our emotions can feel like living beings in themselves and this online class lets you really make those feelings come alive in a safe space. Your creative creature provides distance from your feelings — yet couples this with visual representation — leaving you to explore them with ease.

Guide

Mia DeMarco is a Coordinator, psychology/research assistant, amateur gardener, mom and dog mom. After earning her B.S. in Human Development and Family Service at the University of R.I. she began working in early childhood psychology at a local children’s psychiatric hospital. She began her career 20 years ago as a behavior therapist and later moved into a clinical research position. Mia recognized the benefits our programming could provide to her very young patients and offered to run our workshops regularly with groups, families and individuals. Allowing the children to use their creative brains freely was so impactful, not only for the children, but for their families as well. Mia enjoys outdoor adventures with her family, lounging on the beach and finding new items to create with. Mia believes that exercising your creative brain can have a positive impact on mental wellness.
