About Workshop

Gardens can be thriving places where life grows and flourishes. They symbolize the perfect way to express and give thanks for the good in our lives. In this mental health workshop, you create your own symbolic garden and explore things which ground you, bring you joy and make you feel good. Connecting with these branches of goodness allows you to cultivate pockets of peace and share them with others. This is your opportunity to give back, bask in gratitude and connect with the bedrock of blessings in your life.

Guide

Joy Lugo is a Lead Trainer and Program Development Coordinator. She graduated with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Rhode Island. She began a decade of work in the mental health field as a PsychoSocial Rehabilitation Specialist and Vocational Specialist, helping her clients find meaningful activity in their lives. For years she attended our workshops with her clients, and loved sharing our programs with the people she served. Joy saw first hand the benefits of encouraging people to explore their feelings through simple creative activities. Joy enjoys reading and spending time at the beach with her family.
